The 2017 Defense Appropriations Bill being debated in the House of Representatives this week includes more than $25 million for Rochester’s Photonics Institute.

It’s one of eight specialized manufacturing institutes across the country being funded under the bill.

Congresswoman Louise Slaughter says it’s a national security priority that the United States be able to produce the technically-advanced goods it needs at home. She says the largest single share of the funding goes to Photonics.
