The trend to regional hospital consolidation is continuing as St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell announces it’s joined with UR Medicine.
St James is the sixth hospital to join the UR Medicine network. Competition and economic pressures are forcing the smaller hospitals to join either UR Medicine or competing Rochester Regional Health. Hospitals in Canandaigua, Dansville and Wellsville have already joined UR Medicine.
St. James says the affiliation lets it expand services and improve patient care.
