Two men have been sentenced to more than 100 years in prison each for carrying out a series of violent home invasions around the Rochester area.

Federal prosecutors say 37-year-old Matthew Nix of Rochester will serve 155 years, and 36-year-old Earl McCoy of Brooklyn was sentenced to 135 years in federal prison. Both were found guilty by a jury of conspiring to commit a Hobbs Act Robbery, carrying firearms during a drug crime and numerous other charges.

They led a gang of criminals who targeted homes of suspected drug dealers as well as a jewelry wholesaler in the Town of Greece. The four other members of the gang, including McCoy’s younger brothers, have also been tried and convicted.

McCoy and his gang would force their way into the target house at gunpoint, tie the victims up, pistol-whip them and take any drugs and money that they found. Nix, McCoy and the rest of the gang also pulled off the Greece home invasion in which they stole $200,000 in high-end watches, diamonds and cash.

They were tracked down by Greece Police, ATF Agents, the FBI, New York State and Rochester Police in a joint investigation.
