The woman charged with randomly killing a woman last month in Brockport will face a mental competency exam.

Holly Colino was in court Tuesday morning for a brief hearing. The examination won’t focus on her mental state at the time she allegedly shot and killed Megan Dix in Brockport, but on whether she’s able to participate in her own defense.

Colino allegedly shot Dix in the head while Dix was sitting in her vehicle on her lunch break.

In videos posted online before the shooting, Colino said she believed others were stalking her.

If she’s found incompetent, it doesn’t mean the end of the trial. The prosecutor in the case says her mental condition may change, or they may figure out something else if that happens. The examination will take place in the coming month.
