In Rochester on Monday, New York Governor Kathy Hochul said the COVID surge predicted in the fall when Omicron was first identified has arrived. Hochul says she wants more data about people being admitted to hospitals or coming in with COVID.
Hochul asked if the person testing positive in the hospital actually came in with serious illness or was actually asymptomatic or just had the sniffles.
Hospital administrators say they were surprised by that. According to NewsSource 13, they’ve been submitting daily reports about COVID hospitalizations including whether COVID was the main reason the patient came to the hospital.
On Monday night, the governor’s office said the state is adding new questions to that survey starting today (Tuesday).
