Speaking at Monroe Community College’s downtown campus, Governor Kathy Hochul on Monday pledged millions of dollars in her current budget for projects in the Finger Lakes Region.
With COVID cases declining, Hochul says it’s now time to focus on revitalizing Upstate New York. She committed $100 million to complete filling the Inner Loop and restoring the downtown street grid where the remaining section of the highway currently runs. She also announced creation of the High Falls State Park, which includes $9.5 million to convert the Broad Street Bridge back to its appearance as the historic Erie Canal Aqueduct and provide more park space downtown. She also pledged another $10 million to upgrade Frontier Field and more than $42 million for the Seneca Park Zoo.
