Buffalo native Kathy Hochul was sworn in at one minute past midnight Tuesday morning as the 57th governor of New York. She’s the first woman to hold the office, and the first Western New York to occupy the governor’s office since Grover Cleveland more than 120 years ago.

Hochul will have a public swearing-in at 10:00 a.m. in Albany, and plans a statewide address at 3:00 p.m.

She takes over from Andrew Cuomo, who resigned after his sexual harassment scandal eroded his support.

Cuomo gave a final pre-recorded address on Monday during which he defended his record and denied again that intentionally mistreated women. He called the pressure for his resignation politically motivated.
