The National Weather Service has declared a high wind warning until 10:00 tonight, and it looks as though the winds will be at least equal to those that knocked out power to some 10,000 homes and businesses a week ago.

Forecasters say Monroe and the surrounding counties could see sustained southwest winds of 30-to-40 miles per hour with gusts to 70. The top gust last Wednesday night was 64. They’re warning of further power line damage, downed trees and difficulty driving high-profile vehicles.

A strong cold front pushing from Canada into New England is bringing extreme low pressure and the strong winds crossing Western New York.
