A Henrietta woman who was awakened by smoke alarms late Saturday night hustled her son and grandson out of their house on Crystal Valley Overlook…then woke up her husband and got him out of the house, too.
Sixty-one-year-old Georgia Smith has a son living with traumatic brain injury and also had her eight-year-old grandson sleeping in the house. Her husband, George, has multiple scleroisis.
She crawled through smoke-filled hallways to find them and make sure they were all out of the house. Nobody was hurt.
Firefighters say the flames tore through the roof and the house was destroyed. The cause is under investigation but is believed to be accidental.
