An investigation is underway into a hazing incident at SUNY Brockport. Campus Police, Brockport Police and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant on an off-campus home in Brockport and detained more than a dozen people yesterday.
Investigators carried out tables, wooden paddles and other evidence from the house. Police say the raid follows a month-long investigation into a group called “the Delts.” College officials say the group was posing as a fraternity, even though Delta Sigma Phi’s charter at Brockport was revoked in 2001.
SUNY Brockport issued a statement saying the Delts are one of four unrecognized groups still trying to organize as fraternities even though their charters have been revoked for various disciplinary issues. The college says they have zero tolerance for these groups and are warning students and parents of the dangers of associating with them.
