A near 12-hour standoff between a man and Monroe County deputies in Hamlin ended Monday morning when the man took his own life.
The standoff began when 62-year-old Richard Paige stabbed neighbor Adam Burley on Curtisdale Lane, sending the 36-year-old Burley to the hospital. Paige then retreated into his own home, where he took his own life shortly after midnight….after deputies tried for hours to get him to surrender peacefully.
Burley is in guarded condition at Strong Hospital.
