Rochester police investigated two incidents of reported gunfire in the city overnight, arresting one man for having an illegal handgun.

Police were called shortly before two Friday morning to East Avenue and Ryan Alley for a report of gunfire. Officers found shell casings but no report of anyone or anything being hit. While investigating, they stopped a Mercedes on East Avenue and found 24-year-old driver Elijah Gregory of Irondequoit had an unregistered handgun. He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon.

Then about 2:00 a.m. police were called to Clifford Avenue for reported gunshots. Again, they found evidence of shots being fired but nothing appeared to have been it.
