The man accused of selling heroin to a Gates man who then died of a drug overdose has pleaded guilty to charges of criminally negligent homicide and attempted sale of a controlled substance.

Brian Saez will serve two-to-four years on the negligent homicide charge, and three years on the drug charge, and he’ll serve them at the same time.

Gates Police said Saez sold heroin to Sean Vaniderstine in January. Vaniderstine died about an hour later.

Saez was on parole for DWI at the time and had four previous felony convictions, mostly for drugs, making him a predicate felon.
