Livingston County authorities have charged a Groveland man with second degree assault and criminal obstruction of breathing after investigating a domestic disturbance.
The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office says 51-year-old Larry Landers is being held on $2,500 bail and an order of protection was issued for the victim.
The case came to light when an animal control officer went to a home in Groveland to return a dog and saw a woman there was visibly injured. The animal control officer called a deputy, who learned she’d been assaulted by Landers and convinced her to go to the hospital.
Authorities say she had a concussion, a perforated eardrum and a possible broken jaw. Landers was located and taken into custody.
The victim is being given temporary housing and protection.
