Officials broke ground today for the new American Packaging Company plant in Chili.

The company produces flexible packaging for everything from food, to health care, to household products from a plant on Dewey Avenue in Rochester. Last year they were looking to expand out of state, but instead chose to build on Beaver Road in Chili, where they expect to create 200 new jobs.

The $170 million plant is being helped along with nearly $15 million in Empire State Development and other state grants. RG&E kicked in $870,000 and Monroe County granted tax breaks through COMIDA.
