The City of Rochester and Greenlight Networks have reached agreement to have the high speed internet provider expand its fiber optic network in the city.

Greenlight has been slowly expanding in Brighton, Irondequoit, Greece, Gates and Penfield, providing internet service at up to two gigabitgs per second, double the speed of cable-based internet.

The agreement outlines fees and application processes Greenlight will follow when it begins to run service into city neighborhoods. About 11,000 households currently have the service, and they hope to add another 1,200 customers by the end of the year. They hope to hit just under a quarter of a million households over the next three years.
