Water levels on Lake Ontario are expected to keep rising beyond the current level of 247.6 feet…towards 248 feet, at which Greece Town officials say water will start coming over Edgemere Drive and past shoreline properties there.
Supervisor Bill Reilich says the town’s Emergency Board met this week to coordinate all town, police and fire responses in case a storm or high winds start pushing water onto shore. Reilich also says the Department of Public Works has been sealing manholes leading to sanitary sewer lines along Edgemere and other shoreline roads so floodwaters won’t backflow into the sewers. Reilich says that could affect people living far back from Lake Ontario.
A high speed sand bag filler is being brought to Goodwin Park at Edgemere and Long Pond Road and evacuation plans are in place in case people along that low-lying stretch have to leave their homes.
