A Greece man is dead following an officer-involved shooting on Betwood Lane.
Greece Police Chief Patrick Phelan said they received a call shortly after 2:00 a.m. for a man saying he was going to kill his wife. An officer arrived at the house within a couple of minutes. As he got out of his car he was approached by a man carrying a long gun. The man ignored orders to drop the weapon and pointed it at the officer, who then shot and killed him.
The officer involved has not yet been named. He’s a two year veteran of the Greece Police Department.
The incident remains under investigation. There was heavy police presence on the scene overnight.
