The Town of Greece has completed work of a flood control berm along the shoreline of Lake Ontario at Round Pond. Should lake levels rise as high as they did in 2017, it should prevent flooding of Edgemere Drive (photo shows 2017 flood damage).

Supervisor Bill Reilich’s office says the berm was built by town crews in response to last year’s floods. It’s 420 feet long and stands at 250 feet above sea level. The lake at its record high hit 249 feet. The berm has shutoff valves that can be closed to block off the storm drains and prevent water from flooding back through them.
