The Town of Greece is building a new salt barn on the Department of Public Works site on Long Pond Road. Supervisor Bill Reilich’s office says the new building replaces a barn built in 1991 that isn’t big enough to hold all the salt the town needs in the winter.
The current shed holds 3,500 tons. The new, dome-shaped shed will hold three times as much. It will be 61 feet tall and 124 feet in diameter.
The project is already underway and should be finished by the end of the year.
