rochester-abandoned-city-houseThe Town of Greece has been awarded $175,000 in a grant from a not-for-profit corporation helping local governments fight the problem of Zombie Properties.

Supervisor Bill Reilich says Greece will use the money to continue moving aggressively against vacant and abandoned properties. The town adopted a Zombie Property law in April that requires banks or lenders to deposit at least $10,000 with the town to make sure the property is maintained once it’s empty.
Reilich says the town has received nearly $2 million into that fund since spring and will add the grant funding into that pot.
