Now that police have ruled the death of a three-year-old girl this week a homicide, her grandfather has started an online petition seeking an investigation of the Child Protective Services employees who handled her case.
John Geer believes Brook Stagles was beaten to death while living with her father, Michael Stagles, and his girlfriend Erica Bell. He wants charges filed against the CPS workers for failing to protect her. His petition to Governor Cuomo is on Change.Org.
Nobody has been charged yet with causing the three-year-old’s death, but police continue their investigation. The girl died Monday at Strong Memorial Hospital after being brought in Sunday night suffering from internal injuries.
CPS says it can’t discuss an ongoing case.
