A former healthcare CEO accused by federal authorities last week of defrauding his own company has been indicted by a federal grand jury.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says a 15-count indictment has been returned against Michael Margiotta, accusing him of wire fraud, money laundering and filing a false tax return.
From May of 2011 to January of 2014, Margiotta was head of eHealth Global Technologies, which handled job recruiting for other healthcare companies. Federal prosecutors say Margiotta had false invoices issued to his company, had his staff pay them, and then pocketed the money. He allegedly stole about $455,000 before he was caught.
