The Greece Performing Arts Society has announced its “Next Chapter,” saying over the weekend that it’s essentially re-doing its storefront.
GPAS Board President Eric Vaughn Johnson says the society has a new direction, a new theater company and several new partnerships with community organizations. Johnson says GPAS is expanding its performance schedule in the Town of Greece and in the Greater Rochester area.
You can see the performance schedule here.
The society is also partnering with the Rochester Association for the Performing Arts to bring back the Young Artists Competition for Greece schools, and they’re expanding it to all area school districts.
Johnson says they’re also reopening the Greece Theater Company under Rochester actress Janine Mercandetti. They’ll showcase performers of all ages, starting with the regional premier of Disney’s Hunchback of Notre Dame. Mercandetti will also be the society’s new artistic director.
The show will premier at the new Lyric Theater main stage on East Avenue in October.
