Governor Cuomo says the so-called “Dreamers,” illegal aliens who were brought here as small children, will remain eligible for state-funded Medicaid no matter what the federal government does to the DACA Program.
The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program will terminate this spring if Congress can’t come up with a replacement. There are about 42,000 DACA participants in New York, many of whom are at risk of losing their work-provided health insurance if the program ends.
Governor Cuomo says he’ll extend state Medicaid insurance to them if that happens.
