Governor Cuomo says he wants all of New York State’s Jewish community to know that all New Yorkers condemn a surge of anti-semitism seen from Buffalo to Long Island. He calls it “repugnant to everything we believe as New Yorkers.”
Speaking at two different venues in the Albany area, the governor said threats phoned to Jewish Community Centers are targeting children, and are especially immoral and reprehensible.
The state has established a special State Police unit to investigate such threats with local police and the FBI. Governor Cuomo has set aside a $25 million fund for security at threatened religious institutions and offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of anyone making such threats.
