Governor Cuomo has issued an executive order, telling health care and insurance providers they have to keep giving New Yorkers the coverage mandated under Obamacare.
Cuomo is applying the Affordable Care Act principals requiring insurers to cover pre-existing conditions and not to discriminate by age or gender. That makes New York the first state to write the full list of ACA rules into its own insurance regulations in defiance of attempts to repeal Obamacare.
Governor Cuomo says any insurance company that withdraws from offering qualified health plans through the state insurance marketplace will be banned from doing business in New York.
