Governor Andrew Cuomo says he will keep New York’s school districts shut down for another two weeks because of the coronavirus. Cuomo says he’ll re-evaluate the week of April 13-19 if schools can reopen.
Cuomo said in his daily briefing that the peak of infection in New York is now expected in about three weeks. He said the good news is that hospitalization rates from the disease have gone from doubling every two days to doubling every four days thanks to social distancing and hand washing. But the numbers are still going up.
The state now has 519 deaths of the COVID-19 disease and more than 6,400 people hospitalized. New York remains the most affected state with more than 44,600 cases
