Businessman and philanthropist Tom Golisano will take his case before the South Bristol Board of Assessment Review this afternoon, challenging the assessment of his property on Canandaigua Lake.
Golisano is sitting on $145,000 in property taxes, school taxes and penalties on his lake home, saying the town has refused to help solve a geese problem. Golisano says the large flocks of geese make it impossible to be outside on the property and the town should be doing something about them.
Golisano is going to Grievance Day, held once a year in towns across New York, where taxpayers can challenge their assessments. In South Bristol it’s from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. this evening.
