The owner of the Golden Ponds in Greece has closed the restaurant, but will continue to serve events that were pre-booked at its party house off Long Pond Road. The closing is said to be temporary, and due to the financial losses they suffered after closing down for most of December.
The Monroe County Health Department said more than 260 people got sick after eating their Thanksgiving dinner either at the Golden Ponds, or as takeout. It was traced back to gravy kept at the wrong temperature, allowing bacteria to grow.
Two lawsuits have been filed because of the incident. The restaurant made procedural changes and reopened, but business fell off.
