A 14-year-old girl detained earlier this week for bringing a handgun to the Academy of Health Sciences Charter School on Lake Avenue has now been charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. A 13-year-old boy who was also involved has been released without charges.
School officials were able to take the gun from the girl earlier this week and turn it over to police.
The girl is being held in the Monroe County Children’s Detention Center.
