Police in Geneva were conducting a door-to-door canvas and using a K9 unit to search the area around 45-47 Lafayette Avenue after shots were fired in that city early Sunday morning. Police say it happened during some sort of incident, but the victim and 20-to-30 people who saw what happened are refusing to cooperate.
A number of people called 911 to report shots in that area about 3:30 in the morning. Police found 31-year old Maurice Maxon of Geneva had been shot twice, in the shoulder and the abdomen. He was taken first to Geneva General, then Strong Memorial Hospital where he was taken into surgery. Police say he’s expected to survive.
Geneva Police believe this shooting is related to the shooting of Aleem Whitfield in late April. Those witnesses and the victim also refused to talk to police.
