The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office has identified the SUNY Geneseo student killed in a car crash on Tuesday as 18-year-old Savannah Williams of Norwich, New York in Chenango County.
Sheriff Thomas Dougherty says Williams pulled her car out of Court Street onto Route 63 and into the path of an oncoming tractor trailer. The truck hit the passenger side and killed her. The 24-year-old truck driver wasn’t injured but was badly shaken up.
Williams was a member of the women’s basketball team at Geneseo and was getting ready to head home for Christmas.
The sheriff says there have been eight accidents at that intersection since January of 2014. This is the only fatal crash during that period.
