Laid off workers have been re-hired by a debt collection company in Geneseo…and Coast Professional plans to hire 200 more people after getting a new federal contract.
United States Senator Chuck Schumer and Coast President Roxanne Baker say the company is expanding its office in Geneseo after Baker says the senator helped nail down a new federal contract.
Coast had been working for the U.S. Department of Education, following up with people who defaulted on their federal student loans and trying to get them set up on repayment plans. The department suspended the contract last year, leading the company to lay off much of its staff.
With the new contract they’ve been called back to work and the company is nearly doubling its staff.
