The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office says a Pavilion man suffered an accidental gunshot wound while hunting yesterday evening. The incident remains under investigation.
Deputies say the 41-year-old hunter was hit in the arm by a 22 rifle bullet from about 500 yards away. He was treated at Strong Memorial Hospital and is OK. Deputies and Department of Environmental Conservation officers both responded to the victim’s 911 call. They determined the shot had been fired by a group of teenagers who were target shooting.
Those four people have been interviewed, but no charges have been filed.
