Two teenagers have been arrested in Genesee County after they were caught with a pit bull that had been stolen from the Genesee County Animal Shelter.
The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to a gas station in LeRoy after someone phoned in a complaint about a suspicious condition. They found Haleigh Ogden of Batavia and Giancarlo Miranda of Stafford, both 18, who had been involved in a car crash.
Ogden and Miranda took off running after the crash but were found a short time later. Deputies found they’d been involved in a burglary at the animal shelter and had a dog who had been taken from the shelter when they were located.
Both have been charged with burglary and are being held on $15,000 bail. The pit bull is back in the shelter.
