Drivers on St. Paul Street in Rochester have noticed the wrappers missing from the big grain silos at the Genesee Brewery; the ones that make them look like giant beer cans.
It’s the beginning of construction for the brewery’s $49 million expansion and upgrade project that was announced not quite a year ago.
Owner North American Breweries says Phase 1 is a 130,000 square foot building with new brewing vessels and a new filter room. That expansion in itself is a $24 million project. In Phase 2 they’ll be expanding the pilot brew house and museum and creating a “beer campus” for visitors.
