RPD-Cop Car at Night

Rochester Police say they are now investigating two separate incidents of the Rainbow gay pride flag being burned in Rochester, one on Atlantic Avenue and the other on Marion Street.

Both flags were torched on election night and reported the following day. Both are considered arson investigations. Police say they’re working with the Gay Alliance on both incidents and anyone with information is asked to call 911 or Crime Stoppers.

A number of North Winton Village residents met Wednesday night at the Gay Alliance LGBTQ Resource Center to discuss their concerns about the incidents.

Greg Ventura told Police he came home after going out to dinner election night and found his rainbow flag had been torched on its staff. An investigator told him he’s lucky the flag didn’t set fire to his house.
