A Gates woman has been charged with making a false statement after police body cam video refuted her claim that Gates officers used excessive force against her.
Police say 49-year-old Tina Lehman was arrested by police last week for obstructing governmental administration. She allegedly interfered with police trying to arrest four suspects after a traffic stop while the officer was holding the suspects on the ground and waiting for backup. The officer ordered them out of the car and onto the ground after seeing marijuana and a gun in their car.
Lehman swore out a complaint against two Gates officers, claiming one pointed a gun at her face and another shoved her face into the mud after she was handcuffed.
Gates Police reviewed body cam video from multiple officers and interviewed witnesses. Their findings showed Lehman’s claims were false. She’s been ordered to appear in court December 5th.
