dv-carGates Police Chief James Vanbrederode says his officers will serve breakfast tomorrow to a pair of construction workers, who took action last week when they saw parolee Christopher Picket assault a woman outside St. Jude’s Church on Lyell Road.

Picket waited for his girlfriend outside the St. Jude’s day care center before assaulting her and stealing her car. Two workers at a housing project next door to the church saw what was going on.

The chief says Michael Arquette and Jared Labarge physically intervened to protect the victim. Both have been sent letters of appreciation from Gates Police and Supervisor Mark Assini.

Picket was arrested later that day by State Police after a chase and a car crash in Jefferson County (photo).
