A Gates man has been accused of a hate crime after a road rage incident on Buffalo Road Sunday.
Police say 38-year-old Jeffrey Peters pointed a gun at another driver who was African American and shouted racial slurs at them in the parking lot of the Home Depot in Gates.
Peters was arrested inside the store. He’s been charged with aggravated harassment as a hate crime, menacing, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal use of a weapon.
He’s being held on $22,000 bail pending a court appearance on Thursday.
