Crude oil prices went up last week after the market grew nervous following attacks on two tankers in the Gulf of Oman. Despite that, state and local gasoline prices continued to drop across New York.
The statewide average price for a gallon of gas is now $2.87…down three cents from last week and down 18 cents from a year ago.
The regional average for Rochester is down three cents at $2.81; Buffalo is down two cents at $2.85 and Syracuse is down four cents at $2.77.
Although demand is up for the summer, the national gasoline supply is still increasing. Price drops will probably slow as crude oil prices rise.
