The nation’s oversupply of gasoline is finally being used up, and prices at the pump are starting to rise nationwide and in Western and Central New York.

The national average is now $2.35, up three cents per gallon over the last week. So was the New York State average. Meanwhile, national gasoline demand hit a record high. With that sort of summer demand, prices will keep rising.

The AAA of Western and Central New York says Rochester’s regional average is now up a nickel per gallon to $2.42. Buffalo is at $2.38, up three cents, and Syracuse is up four cents at $2.39.
