Rochester Gas and Electric inadvertently triggered a host of 911 emergency calls from Pittsford to Gates this morning, including Henrietta and the City of Rochester. All of them apparently came from work underway on gas lines at 100 Canfield Road in Pittsford.
The winds wafted the natural gas odor over a wide area. Fire departments and police were kept busy handling all the calls from people who smelled gas and some had to divert resources into handling the calls.
