The national average price for a gallon of gasoline tipped back up by a penny over the last week, but the New York State and regional averages are still dropping.
The national average is $2.28 a gallon and the New York State average $2.48. The average for the Rochester region is now $2.39, down two cents over the last seven days. Buffalo is down a cent at $2.44 and Syracuse is down two cents at $2.32.
The American Automobile Association says the U.S. has stepped up its oil production and demand has gone down after the holidays, meaning OPEC hasn’t managed to take the lid off oil prices as it hoped by reducing its production.
