National and regional gasoline prices are still falling. The AAA of Western and Central New York says the national average price is now $2.26 a gallon and the New York State Average is $2.44. That’s down by a couple of cents over the past week.

The Rochester average is down three cents a gallon at $2.37. Buffalo and Syracuse were also down three cents from last week, at $2.36 and $2.30 respectively.

The auto club says refineries have been producing record amounts of gasoline heading into the summer. That’s been forcing prices down since demand hasn’t surged for the summer as early as they expected. No dramatic price increases are likely this summer until the surplus is worked through.
