The AAA of Western and Central New York says gasoline prices have fallen over the past week across the region.
The statewide average price for a gallon of unleaded regular is now $2.49, compared to a national average of $2.34.
Prices in Rochester, Buffalo and Syracuse all went down over the last week. Rochester is now averaging $2.42 for the five-county region, down three cents. Buffalo is down a penny at $2.42 and Syracuse down three cents at $2.37.
The common denominator is the low price of crude oil right now. Refineries are buying more of it and cranking out more gasoline. Production is now at all-time record levels, and it could mean gas prices will hold steady instead of rising this summer.
