Gasoline prices dropped for a third straight week across New York State and in the Rochester area.
The AAA says the United States now has a gasoline surplus between refiners running at full capacity and gas imports, even though demand jumped by more than a quarter-of-a-million barrels last week with the coming of road trip season. The good news is that oversupply means summer travel probably won’t drive prices up by more than a few cents.
The New York Average dropped by two cents last week to $2.50 per gallon. The Rochester average is down two cents as well, at $2.42. Buffalo is down three at $2.43 a gallon, and Syracuse is down two cents at $2.39.
These are market-wide averages.
