The price of gasoline is down 16 cents nationally over the past week, and down nine cents per gallon in Rochester.
The AAA says the New York State average is down 11 cents from last Monday to $4.69 a gallon. Regional average prices can be seen below:
· Batavia – $4.62 (down 10 cents from last week)
· Buffalo – $4.68 (down 8 cents from last week)
· Elmira – $4.70 (down 9 cents from last week)
· Ithaca – $4.80 (down 6 cents from last week)
· Rochester – $4.77 (down 9 cents from last week)
· Rome – $4.82 (down 8 cents from last week)
· Syracuse – $4.73 (down 8 cents from last week)
· Watertown – $4.83 (down 7 cents from last week)
The Energy Information Administration says prices are dropping because gas demand has tapered off since July 4th. That’s teaming up with lower oil prices to push gas prices down. If those factors hold, we’ll likely get continued price drops at the pump.
