People in the Village of Holley were told to “shelter in place” and keep their windows closed this morning after a construction crew broke a natural gas line.
An alert from the Orleans County village said the two-inch gas main was leaking heavily. They advised people not to turn any electrical appliances of phones on or off. The alert ended about 10:45 when authorities said the situation was under control.
A number of fire companies and New York State Electric and Gas crew members were at the scene on VanBuren Street taking air readings and working to cut off the gas flow.
